Scottish Outdoor Access Code

The Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 provides a right of responsible access over much of Scotland's land and inland water. The Scottish Outdoor Access Code gives guidance on how to access the countryside responsibly, whether walking on your own, in a group or taking your dog. The Code provides guidance too for cycling, mountain biking, horse riding and various water sports.

The code is based on three key principles:

1.Respect the interests of other people
2.Care for the environment
3.Take responsibility for your own actions

For information and advice about accessing reservoirs, visit Scottish Water's Website if the reservoir is owned by them or go to the Scottish Outdoor Access Code Website for more details. For information on who owns any of the reservoirs within the Regional Park, contact the Regional Park H.Q.
