Pentland Hills Regional Park Car Park Charging Consultation

Published: Monday, 07 May 2012

Consultation Completed

The Pentland Hills Regional Park was proposing to introduce car park charging at Threipmuir, Harlaw, Bonaly and Flotterstone.

An informal consultation was carried out in 2011 and indicated that out of 115 respondents, 38% were against, 23% in favour and 39% were neither clearly for or against parking charges.

The proposal was then taken to the Transportation Policy Officers in early 2012 who raised concerns about Flotterstone Car Park and the proposal has been suspended.

Like most local authority services, the Regional Park is still facing significant financial pressures and additional sources of income is needed to be found in order to maintain the level of visitor and environmental management currently being provided. The Park will continue to explore other sources of income to help care for the hills.

The latest issue of the Pentland Beacon has full details on this story.
