Cycling

There are no dedicated mountain bike paths in the Pentland Hills Regional Park - all routes will have other users on them, including horse-riders, runners, walkers, dogs, and livestock!

When cycling we ask that you avoid the ridge paths when it is wet, as they are particularly vulnerable to erosion.

We post seasonal signage asking mountain bikers to avoid certain lambing fields (especially at night), as livestock are particularly vulnerable at this time. Particular areas to avoid are Harbour Hill ("Bypass"), and "Scalextric".

Please always be aware that other users will be on the routes, and do not expect them to move out of your way.

Ministry of Defence land requires particular care as military training and live firing can take place at any time.
