We are very proud of the work our rangers have been doing recently. We went many years without rangers on the ground, and since 2021 they have been a huge help with visitor management, landowner liaison and environmental projects.
They have been splitting their time between car park checks, hot-spot camping area checks, longer patrols and individual environmental and interpretation projects.
Over summer 2023 most of these rangers were funded by NatureScot's Better Places Green Recovery Fund. They had a visitor management focus, helping our visitors enjoy the Regional Park whilst adhering to the Scottish Outdoor Access Code. Please do say hello if you bump into any of them.
During 2024 these rangers are funded by City of Edinburgh Council, still with a visitor managment remit, but also undertaking maintenance work across the Regional Park and City of Edinburgh Council Natural Heritage sites. They work extended hours from mid-June to September.
