Orienteering

The Pentland Hills Regional Park is home to three permanent orienteering courses. They are located at Bonaly Country Park, Castlelaw and Hillend Country Park. Orienteering involves a race against the clock using maps and navigational skills to find your way around a selected course, made up of red and white markers.

Maps of the orienteering courses can be purchased from us  see our contact us page or from Janet Clarke, Edinburgh Southern Orienteering Club.

For young children, families or schools, visit the Harlaw Biodiversity Trail around Harlaw Reservoir. Follow the numbered markers to find the wildlife symbols and letters. Maps (and free pencils) are available at Harlaw House visitor centre.

If you would like to know more about orienteering in the Pentland Hills contact the local clubs for more infomation.
