Wildlife
Despite the Regional Park's close proximity to Edinburgh, wildlife can be found all over the park.
Pentland Hills Regional Park species list
To ensure that the habitats within the Regional Park are conserved, we undertake regular biodiversity surveys of the flora and fauna. These surveys are part of the Local Biodiversity Action Plans (LBAPs) of the three local authorities: Edinburgh, Midlothian and West Lothian.
Wildlife Recording: Volunteering
To gain a better understanding of species found within the Regional Park, we use volunteers to help record the flora and fauna.
We are hoping to start with rare and unusual species, such as birds-of-prey. We are happy to accept correctly-recorded sightings of more common species as well.
